After we got the bushes cut back it was time to tackle the sprinklers in the front yard. Max was not able to hold himself back he had to run free into the water. I love this photo, he is telling me "mom my pants are falling down".
After we got all dry we had the missionaries over for dinner on Saturday. We hardly get to have them over so it was a nice treat. The kids were happy to help make dinner. See how they help.
Lastly, I wanted to do something fun. So we set up our little tent in the loft. The kids slept in it on Saturday night and did really well. They were having so much fun with the tent that they asked to sleep in it for another night. Here it is Tuesday night and they are sleeping in it for the 4th night in a row. Life's simple pleasures are grand.
I need some ideas from my friends out there. It is time to have the kids to chores. What do you all do in your family? Are their jobs daily or weekly? Do you have a job chart, what does it look like? Please share, thanks all!

Definitely want ideas on chores, too. The girls each have one, but it's a pain for me to remind them, and I'm too broke at the moment to offer money for a reward. But Maggie wipes down the bathroom sink with a baby wipe every night (is supposed to, at least...she's pretty good about doing it) and Ryleigh lines up all the shoes by the door (since we take them off right when we walk in).
Love the tent in the loft! So fun!!
Oh yeah, they help set the table for dinner, which they are VERY good at, Ryleigh does forks, Maggie does plates. They clear the table, too.
We have lots of chores around here. The boys take out the trash with Chip twice a week, Taytum takes out the recycle. Cleaning up toys inside and outside every night before going upstairs for bath/bed. Make beds, bring down dirty clothes and put clean clothes away, emptying the dishwasher...Nash even knows and loves to put the silverware away. Brushing teeth, getting dressed...these are just everyday chores. Saturdays are different. I say they are never to young to teach them how to work. Our kids love to help out which won't always be the case! Teach them while they are young.
we do chores over here and a chart that i made. i will call you about it, it is too long :)
Didn't miss Lilly Lou have a birthday this last weekend?
Hey Laura. Our boys take out the trash every Friday, are in charge of picking up their room/making their bed every day before they can play with friends and help Michael with yardwork/weeds on the weekend. We also have a little spinner thing that we made (like wheel of fortune! Which job do you win today?). If you want to see it, come on over.
Funny you should ask, I just made a chore chart for Paige. She LOVES it. She can't wait to earn money and spread it out in her room and roll on it. Her words not mine. For her personality type the important thing is to keep the chores simple, and make them things she likes to do already, so they keep her interest. She has to clean up her room, help me empty all the garbage cans, help unload the dishwasher and clear the breakfast table. So far so good but it has only been three days. I asked her if she wanted to buy a butterfly treehouse with her allowance, she said, "how bout you buy it and then I can keep my money?"
