I wanted to get a picture of Lilly missing her 2 front teeth. She doesn't seem to mind it much, I think she appreciates the benefits of the tooth fairy. The other day she offered to pay for her own slurpee at QT, because she has money now. Sweet.
With 3 o'clock church, our Sunday afternoons seem to drag on and on. The kids were teasing each other and Kevin was off to a meeting. So I had a great idea to make something. We made laptops out of cereal boxes. I was a little surprised that I had to guide them so much at first, but it only took a few minutes, and they had ideas of their own. They added the keys, space bar, enter, a camera, and mouse. It has kept them entertained for 2 days and they just keep adding to them. Lilly started playing with hers, runs up to Max and says, really excited like "look at this website I just found, it has so much wonderful information." I had to laugh because I'm sure she picked that up from school because I never say that. If she said "look what I found on this blog", that would be my doing.It's sounds funny but today I was thankful for 2 things. First for wonderful technology and all the information that is assessable and second that my kids are still able to pretend and imagine when everything is accessible. Maybe next week we will make an ipad.

And for those that asked about our perfect ice blocking hill, it is at Higley and Guadalupe, behind the Walgreen's. It really is a perfect hill.

Adventures is Ice BLOCKING

School is keeping us busy. If you couldn't tell from the infrequent blog posts. These are some pictures from last weekend. We went ice blocking. Everyone got in on the fun. I think my favorite is Kevin doing his penguin glide down the hill.

First Full Week of School

Hooray it is the weekend. We are celebrating the success of a great full week of school for everyone. Max comes home everyday and tells me something new that he has learned. He even likes to come home and complete pages from class that he didn't finish and he loves to read his books that he made. He also manages to come home from school with trinkets from the playground. These were his finds from Wednesday.

I think I'm going to take weekly picture of the things he puts in his pockets.

Lilly lost her first top tooth. How very exciting!! And just as a side note I wanted to mention that her hair is growing back. We didn't treat it, I just noticed that is started growing back this summer. We don't know how long it will last so for now we will enjoy it.

Luke has been a big help watering the lawn. He doesn't seem to mind the taste of mud come to find out. For me, I had a great first week of preschool. Again, I have a wonderful class, full of very smart kids that are so ready for school. Like always, I had the first day jitters where I couldn't sleep the night before. Like magic, the next morning every thing went according to plan and it was a wonderful first day.

Friday I got to hang out with my nephews while my bother and his wife went to the temple. I found out that this adorable little guy likes me much better when I let him play by himself.

These 2 played pretty well together. Luke even shared his toys.

When Lilly and Max came home from school. Jack was happy to share the ipad. My kids are so deprived they have no electronics to play. They are glued to any video game thing that comes into our house.

John and Shannyn were nice enough to pick up dinner for all of us on the way home. Like I said it was a great week.

August 12 of 12

1. Back in school. We are walking down our street to catch our ride.

Back to School

Today two pieces of my heart left me for school today. Being home with just Luke was different I missed my big kids. I would look at the clock and wonder what they were doing. When it was time to pick them up I was greeted by happy faces, an indication that the first day went well. After school they were tired and didn't have much to say. The first things they said to me that they didn't have time to finish their lunch and still have their gogurt to eat. The kids even missed the note I put in their lunch. Silly kids.



I learned more about the first day of school at dinner. Max showed me the signs he learned in his class for sit down and be quiet. He told me the rules for the playground and that he played with his buddy Jackson at lunch even though they are in different classes. Mrs Roden is his teacher she is a wonderful teacher, she give off that vibe, I can tell and plus I'm a teacher I know these things. Lilly wrote a letter home for her first day, letting me know that 2nd grade was going well. She was most excited to show me the class bathroom sign for "I need to go to the bathroom" and the other one that is for "I need to go right now". Mrs. McDaniel is sweet and kind. Lilly has already told me that she is the nicest teacher. Thumbs up!!

The beginning of the day started well. I woke up at 6 and was ready to go at 6:30. I woke the kids up at 6:50. I was so lucky that Luke slept until then as well.
No major drama this morning but I wouldn't say they leaped out of bed with excitement. We made it to school right on time. So there was not a lot of time for wining. I dropped Max off first, gave him a kiss and hug and let him know I would be back to see him walk into the school with his class. He was fine, he was a little nervous but he was excited too. Then we walked Lilly over to 2nd grade. The bell rang and the classes started to walk in. It was a short goodbye which was good. She started to whine for me to stay, I knew that she just does that for my benefit. I knew that she would be fine. Luke and I walked back over to kinder and Max's class had already entered the school. I was a little bummed that I didn't get one more goodbye.
Like I said they were happy when I met them after school. Here they are together walking away from the first of many school days this year.

Summer is Almost Over

This is how I measure summertime, by the number of movie tickets. This week was the last one. Lilly went with the cousins while Max went to his kindergarten assessment. So it is over, summer is over.
On to the start of school, I think we are ready. We have shoes, supplies, backpacks, and a new outfit. And for the first time ever I made freezer jam all on my own. What was I so scared of? It was soooo easy. Now I have jam for all the school lunches that will be made. Max was all tuckered out from his day at kindergarten preview. I love to watch my kids sleep. They are at rest, at peace and I loose my breath for a moment to think that they are mine. I'm so lucky to be their mom.


We are making the most of our days together to get all the fun in. Today we enjoyed the splash pad with some friends. Everyone had a great time. Our Luke loved it. He is blessed to have a big sister and brother that love him and for the most part like to play with him.
