Weekend Haps

Friday started out rainy. I didn't complain because that never happens. Since in was an inside day I called Mandy over to help me with  a quilt and Luke and Micheal played outside in the rain. Saturday morning I got it all quilted now I just have the binding to finish.

I know I was not the only one that turned on Christmas music Saturday morning.  I was rainy, cold and dark outside. The forces were against me I had to listen to the happy tunes of Christmas.  It made chores so much easier and since I was feeling Chirstmasy we stripped the beds and put on the flannel sheets.  Happy times! At about that time Kevin came home from the temple and brought us Bosa doughnuts.
Later that day we went over to the cousins to watch the BYU game. OH such a bummer.  But on the positive side I went in a run with Emma since I bailed on Mandy in the morning because I was a wimp and didn't want to run in the rain.  Then Uncle Pablo took the kids out fishing and look what our Max caught.  A 10 inch catfish.  He was pretty impressed with himself.

I love days like today

Today is Monday. It is prep day, the day I get ready for the week. Today I nailed it and got most of everything off my list crossed off. My day went like this
worked out this morning, preschool adim stuff, ordered a Christmas gift, cashed in some card points for Christmas, signed up Pops for the turkey trot, grocery shopping for the week, called the roofer, sold Lilly's shoes that I couldn't return, set up visiting teaching,  played with Luke, read with him, picked up kids from school, helped with homework, went to Costco to pick up pictures for Lilly, cleaned off computer desk, cleaned the kitchen counters, made sliders for dinner.
For family home evening we went on a family run we went 1.25 miles. Even Luke ran most of the way, then Kevin shared the conference talk The Windows of Heaven with the kids. And now the kids are settling into bed and I'm taking a few minutes to bask in the success of the day then, off to prep for preschool tomorrow. It was a good day I'm ready for the week.
And so this post doesn't look bare here is a picture of Luke eating his cereal with his fingers. He loves to do that now. gross.

It was Halloween

I'm just going to dive right in here and forget that I have not blogged for more then 2 weeks. Hey we are busy. Here are a few thoughts on Halloween.
I got ready for Halloween really early this year and then ran out of steam by the time the day was actually here so those little touches I wanted to do didn't happen.  See this was our pumpkin this year. Nobody asked to carve so I didn't remind them. Lilly did this Just as we were getting our costumes on.

The kids requested mummy dogs for dinner. OK here you go. They pretty much did it themselves. Yep they are growing up they can make their own dinner.

Time to put on costumes.  Max was not much for pictures this year and Luke would not stay still.  Lilly was Glenda the Good Witch, Luke an angry bird and Max a ninja.  I was Tigger because it was a costume that Amber had and it was actually cool enough to wear it this year.

We did more walking then we ever have before so their bags were pretty full.  Our neighborhood was so busy it was so fun to see everyone out and being all neighborly.  Again I was reminded that life is good, and we love where we live.
The kids and their stash. And of course Kevin and I took a hefty candy parent tax.

Birthday

Today was my birthday.  All day I just kept thinking how great life is.  For 37 years a pretty good life.  I have a wonderful, kind, giving husband. I have amazing children.  Super parents and family.  Fantastic friends that cared enough to send a simple birthday wish. Today didn't go as planed but everything turned out just the way they should be.
Poor Luke was sick all last night but Kevin made it possible to work from home and watch the sick guy while I went on our preschool field trip.  He also watched him so I could have a birthday lunch with Mandy at Liberty Market.  Our dinner plans had to change to accommodate the sick one. So we ordered Cheesecake Factory to go. Perfect, every one was happy. Today I was reminded when things don't go as planed it doesn't mean that things go wrong they just go different, and most of the time the different can be just as great or even better then what was planned.
