Honey anyone?

What is the title about you say? Well look...

Yes that is a beehive that landed in your tree in the front yard. So what do we do? We can call someone to come kill them or we can do what the bee keeper said and let them stay for a few nights apparently they are migrating and have chosen our little tree as a resting spot. They should be gone in 3 to 4 days. I'm hoping he is right. It is making the neighbors nervous.

Moving on to the fun filled week. We had guests, guests and more guests. We love when people stay at our house. John, Shannyn and Jack stayed one night, not long enough, Lilly was pretty sad that she didn't get to see you guys, next time I told her. Then we were blessed by a visit from not one but two of my girls from the good old collage days.

My roommate Carrie was here on official photography business. She flew down to shoot her sisters engagement photos. Her sister was nice enough to make a trip to see me and meet my kids. I also made Carrie shoot a few pics of my fam as well. Her visit was just as I thought it would be fun, comfortable and I enjoyed every minute. She has a beautiful sister and adorable kids. Thanks Carrie, it was so fun to see you again!!!

On Friday my good friend Mandy and fam came into town. We were in our Early Childhood Ed cohort together. I loved working with her in class and I just pretty much like her. We always said that we were going to open a preschool together. We might just be able to pull that off because they were here hunting for housing for when they move here in May. HOORAY!!! Lilly loves her daughter Maggie and they played so well together this weekend. I can't wait for this summer.

One more story of note. I went to a doctors appointment on Thursday. I figured that 3 years was long enough and it was a good idea to get checked out. The doctor sent me down stairs for normal blood work, 4 vials of blood. That was 1 vial to many, I passed out. At least I warned the phlebotomist that I have been known to pass out. I thought I would grow out of this. I guess not. Rest assured I drove home safe and a had normal afternoon, I just like all my blood to stay in my veins.

So with all the busy going on, this picture of Max says it all. He fell asleep at 6:30.

Too fast weekend

The Modrell Fam made the trek from CA to AZ for my niece Emma's very special day, her baptism. Both Friday and Saturday was packed with family togetherness. My plan of being the family photographer was crushed by a noisy little boy, that wanted to run free in the church. I won't say who it is but I'm sure you can figure that one out. Oh well, I know that there were plenty of others that were able to document the event. I'm so proud of Emma and her willingness to follow the Savior. She not one for girly, as matter of fact she told me herself, "I hate, hate, hate wearing a dress". Although she loathes dress, she looked so beautiful in her white dress and I was so glad to be apart of her wonderful day.

not so bad

I had a bad day at work it seemed like everything I did just went terribly wrong. Ok it wasn't that bad. I came home to these.


I know I'm totally lucky. Lilly thought I needed them. Kevin decide that would be a thoughtful thing to do. I started to think about all the good things that happened today. I heard from an old friend that only had the nicest things to say, I got flowers. My children are a pure delight and they came up to me to shower me with hugs and kisses when I got home. I had the carpets cleaned yesterday. And I have a husband that will make dinner every night without a complaint. Sometimes I just need to breath and remember all that is around that truly makes me happy.

Spring training

Thanks to Tracy we were able to enjoy a beautiful day watching a Dodger spring training game. We had a great time. Kevin and I think that the spring training games are the way to go. There wasn't a bad seat in the place. The kids ate their first real baseball peanuts and we even walked out of the park with a ball. Kevin would like to say the he dove 3 rows in front of him and caught it with his bare hands but the story goes like this. A lady behind us heard us talking about wanting to catch a ball so she gave Lilly one that she caught from the Cubs game the day before.

Oh how I love nice people!!!

This week should be a busy one. I guess every week is. We have to get the house ready for your family this weekend. We are excited to for everyone to get here.

Crafty weekend

Sometimes I get these ideas and I never do anything with them. But this weekend I completed a few great crafty projects that I must share.

Here are my cute clip boards. I'm not sure how I am going to use them but, cute none the less.

Here is my genius project well to me it is pure genius.

It is already is March and that means that Lilly will be starting kindergarten in 5 months. Being a mom and a teacher, I just want her prepared. She hasn't shown much interest in writing. She loves to write her name and that is about it. I have tried really hard to write more notes to her and make our home more print enriched, to show her that writing is fun, but still she just loves to color.

If I know anything as teacher you want to give kids many choices to express writing, it can be paint, chalk, food, shaving cream, yogurt, crayons and markers, my favorite dry erase!!! Lilly has taken a to dry erase too.

At Ikea I found these picture frames for 2 bucks. Plexiglass is great for dry erase markers. So this is what I did. I glued the plexiglasses to the frame and then took the the cardboard backing from the frame turned it sideways. I then glued that to the outer part of the frame making a pocket.

This why this is so great. Lilly can slide papers in and out so she can trace anything.

Today she did her friends names. But you can do all sort of things, sight words, objects with pictures, you see where I'm going with this. Really I'm too pleased with myself. The best part is Lilly loved it, and that was what I was hoping for.

I picked up one more thing from IKEA (singing it like angles from heaven). The easel!! The kids took to it right away. I can't wait to use it in preschool!!!
