Make up day

I called Friday my make up day.  That morning I woke and said "OH YAH, I'M GOING TO ROCK TODAY"  I guess you need a lazy day to be excited about and appreciate days that ROCK.  I started laundry and other house chores.  We were lucky and had a play date with the Johnson's in the morning.  Our play dates with them usually include haircuts of some sort.  I enjoy the visit, the kids have fun with friends but the only one that works is Shari making us look cute.  I hope she doesn't mind because we do love the time we spend together.

We came home for lunch and I suggested that we go on alphabet scavenger hunt at the pet store.  The kids were on board so off we went. My original idea was to make it an ABC adventure with Elephant.  Being inspired by Lynn's Paddington bear pictures from France.  The idea, take pictures of something that starts with every letter of the alphabet and then I could print the pictures and have a fun book.  We started with fish and then turtles. Then they didn't care if Elephant was in it any more for S, G, L, and M.  Then they grew tired of the whole alphabet and we just bagged the idea and enjoyed the pet store.

 We spent over an hour in the store. The kids loved it. I highly recommend a pet store trip for the summer months. It was a hit with us.

Saturday mornig Kevin had to go into work early,  Lilly got to be his little buddy becuase he didn't plan on staying long.  They were home by 8 and since I have had donuts on my mind for a few weeks we tried a new donut place that our firends told us about, Bosa Donuts. I am very pleased to report that they are like the dounts in California that I loving call the Asian donut.  Thank you Bosa Donuts we will be back.

Just One Day

First I want to say that I was not mom of the year today.  I just woke up this morning and said "hey I really don't want to do this today"  So the kids watched way too much tv. I spent entirely too much time ordering my photo book that has been in my shutterfly cart for 6 months, and Luke never put clothes on today. 

Oh he didn't mind and he has been very particular about what he wants on and when.   We didn't have plans to go anywhere today, just dropping off and picking up kids in a car so no struggles with him he got to stay like this and play with the catapults like they were airplanes.

 The only thing I wish I could do over is if I choose not to be super mom (which is allowed) than I should do something that I really want to do. Like all the projects I have swimming in my head or sit and read all day.  Among all the time wasted today the kids still got their must do's done. (reading, math, and rooms picked up)   Lilly was off to swim team and choir. Max and I played Pictureka while she was gone. Then Max went to his kid camp at 1.  I made dinner at 4 and Lilly and I headed out to the backstroke meet at 5.

She hoped that she would swim slow today to earn 8th place to get a pink ribbon.  Silly girl.  I am so proud of her.  Monday she came home from swim team insisting that she was not going to swim backstroke, it was too hard she couldn't do it.  I suggested that I give her a few tips on Monday night. She agreed so we went over to the cousins pool and had little lesson.  By the end of our swim she liked backstroke and was excited to try it out on Tuesday.  When she came home on Tuesday she was so proud of herself that she could do it now.  She has been only swimming backstroke for 3 days. I love her attitude that she hasn't given up. I have noticed that she has surprised herself a little and is proud of what she has learned to do.

June 12

This is what June 12th looked like

1.  morning dishes putting away the utensils

2.  cricket infestation in our lawn mower.  When I pulled out the lawn mower this morning I also found two lizards getting their breakfast. I have never been so happy to see lizards.

3.  Used some of this stuff on the crickets and in our door way so they stop coming in the house.

4. Luke not happy to be in the car to pick up Lilly from swim team.

5. Smiling faces in our swim team car pool.  Lilly was excited to tell me that after our lesson last night she was able to swim backstroke today. That's my girl.

6.  Max got his own library card today.

7.  We hit school lunch today. Love the goofy CHEESE I got form Luke.

8.  Max went to kid camp and made a paper hat.

9.  I love seeing stacks of books.

10. Costco to pick up some pictures.  The girl at the counter already had my pictures out before I got to the counter.  That's right she knows my name.

11.  Luke and Max played in the sprinklers when Kevin turned them on this afternoon.

12.  Lots of singing for me today. 

Much Better

This week went much better we had fun, made somethings and played with friends.  Almost a perfect week if all of us were healthy.  Luke seems to have caught what Lilly had.  He still manages to be happy most the time and only the occasional melt down but that could be him just being 2. 
Monday Max and I made catapults. An hour of fun and Luke got pretty good at it too.

I am still taken back about how large our swim team is.  This is just the 8 and 7 group.  I would have loved to coach swim team in Arizona.

Thursday Lilly participated in her first swim meet.  Here she is at the finish with her 7th place ribbon. She was in a relay that night too and the team scoured 3rd.  She was proud of her ribbons and I am so proud of her too.

Other events of the week include art class, missionaries for dinner doctors check ups and a baptism.  Summer is shaping us nicely.  This could be yet again, the best summer ever.

I'm Ready

for a new week.  I put this weeks project summer together.  I'm glad it is over and looking forward to a better one.

Lilly starts her Broadway Choir tomorrow and will be back to swim team.  Whatever she had this last week  has hit her hard so I'm sure she will be pretty tired. 

This weekend was stake conference for us. There were a few things that struck me as important in my life right now.  The one that has been on my mind is prayer and teaching my children to pray.  I was reminded of the great responsibility I have to teach my children how to pray. Since it is summer, now is a good time to spend with them every night to go over their day and pray with them. We started tonight with great success now we just have to continue on.  More than anything I want them to know how important prayer is and through prayer you can have a relationship with Heavenly Father.  And that relationship is so important to everything that we do and can bring great joy in life.
